GPD Programs

CVAF receives funding to operate for transitional housing programs was a grant to the US Department of Veterans Affairs Grant and Per Diem Program.

"The purpose of this grant is to promote the development and provisions of supportive housing and/or supportive services with the goal of helping homeless veterans achieve residential stability, increase their skill levels and back: or income, and obtain greater self-determination.We Are Veterans Helping Veterans - Retired Vet"

Only program for supportive housing( up to 24 months) or service centers (offering service such as case management, education, crisis intervention, counseling, services targeted towards specialized populations including homeless women veterans etc.) Are eligible for these funds.

The four programs CVAF operates are:

Per Diem:  provides day services for veterans needing supportive services and housing placement. Established 2001.
                    32-bed program co-located between two apartment complexes on Decatur and Buena Vista streets.

Step Up: 9- bed program distributed between 3-3 bedroom homes throughout Bakersfield. Established 2008.

Per Diem II:  10- bed expansion program located on the Decatur property.

Resource And Referral Center-2000


Resource and Referral Center

The Resource and Referral Center is located at the Kern County Veterans Service Office.  This enables Veterans a one-stop opportunity to receive a wide array of services to include assistance with local, state and federal benefits as well as in employment and training through Employers' Training Resource. CVAF staff will assist veterans who need assistance with housing needs, from emergency, transitional and permanent housing resources.
